Hello, my lovely strawberries…🍓
No tarot card deep dives this week—I’m taking the rest of the year off to rest and reflect on 2024 and what I’d like to carry with me into the new year.
But I want to leave you with a little family tradition: The Awesome Jar
I found this piece at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. It’s a vintage brass and hand-blown bubble glass apothecary jar, and I just want to climb inside of it! Just look at it!
It’s incredibly heavy and feels like it could be a weapon straight out of the Clue murder mystery game. “I believe Miss Scarlet did it with the Apothecary Jar!”
Here’s how we use it: throughout the year, whenever something truly awesome happens—finishing a project, taking a family vacation, making a new friend, or landing a new job—it goes in the Awesome Jar. Then, on New Year’s Eve, we open the jar and a bottle of bubbles (or mocktails) to celebrate all the magical moments of the year.
This year has been pretty intense for me, but my Awesome Jar is quite full. One of the things I’m most excited about that’s in the jar is launching this sToRyDrOpS letter! I’m very grateful.
"I rejoice in what I have, and I know that fresh new experiences are always ahead. I greet the new with open arms. I trust life to be wonderful." - Louise Hay
I’d love to hear what you’d put in your Awesome Jar. Drop your star moments in the comments—let’s celebrate the good stuff together! And if you don’t already have an Awesome Jar, I hope you’ll create your own version for next year.
I already started dreaming and reflecting on the upcoming year, and I have so many creative adventures to share with you all.
Thank you for being in my Awesome Jar. I’m so grateful for you.
That JAR?!? 🤯 Love this! My kids are older now (18) but we did this kind of memory jar for years! And to add extra fun we played charades with our favorite memories on NYEve! So fun. 🤩 This year was a lot of awesome. I wish I kept a jar for myself.
Oh I love the design of your Awesome Jar, just stunning! And the idea of it too, to add in all those lovely things that happened and have time to reflect, I want to make one for next year now. It's so easy to forget all the good things that have happened, whether they are big or small. What would go in my awesome jar for this year is the memories we made on our family holiday to Cornwall in August, it felt really special. And also just feeling more calm myself these days, which makes everything feel a little bit easier, possibly because I'm getting more sleep now my youngest is 2.5 yo and I've been more consistent with exercise too which has massively helped my mood. Thanks for this inspiration! ✨️
